In July 2026, the 12th IDEAC International Congress with the 2026 IDEA Asia-Pacific Forum took place in Beijing, China. The event brought together drama-education experts, classroom teachers, researchers and arts practitioners across Asia-Pacific and European countries.
The programme featured keynote addresses, interactive workshops and round-table discussions. Participants explored innovative drama pedagogy for the AI-era, school-based theatre practice and cross-cultural educational exchange. Local practical experiences were shared to advance future directions for drama education in the Asia-Pacific region.
In conjunction with the Congress, the 9th “Blue Cape” International Youth Creative Drama Exhibition was held at Beijing No.2 Middle School Chaoyang School. Featuring a distinguished panel of judges including IDEA President Sanya Krsmanović Tasić, the event showcased 9 outstanding productions selected from hundreds of entries across nearly 50 regions nationwide. Young participants demonstrated remarkable creativity and theatrical craftsmanship, with award-winning works ranging from historical narratives to contemporary reflections.
As an IDEA-endorsed regional academic gathering, the Congress strengthened community networks, fostered trans-national resource-sharing and partnership building, and built groundwork for future long-term international collaborative initiatives.
